I am currently directing JD AI Research-Nanjing and the Machine Learning R&D team at  JD.com. We conduct fundamental and applied research in machine learning, and build full-stack AI solutions supporting JD’s businesses in retail, finance, logistics, and cloud computing. Prior to joining JD.com, I was a Research Staff Member at IBM Thomas J. Watson Research Center, Yorktown Heights, NY, USA, and a Senior Researcher at Tencent AI Lab, Bellevue, WA, USA. I have published dozens of papers in prestigious venues such as NIPS, ICML, KDD, and ICLR. I hold 20+ US and Chinese patents, and have shipped a number of inventions and technologies to company’s products and services. I received my Ph.D. degree in Computer Science from Michigan State University, under the supervision of Prof. Rong Jin. At MSU, I also worked closely with Prof. Anil K. Jain. Prior to my Ph.D., I received my Bachelor’s degree in Information Security from University of Science and Technology of China.
